Hey Shane- classic video. The scary thing is how it is even more true now than when it was made and how accustomed people seem to have become to this state of affairs. The other unfortunate thing that has happened is that rather being framed as an economic issue, somehow it is becoming twisted into a generational and technology issue. As in, people who want to get paid a living wage for their work are old, spoiled codgers afraid of new technology and competition from the flood of young people graduating from film schools. It is in everyone’s interest to be paid a living wage, unless you plan on living in your parent’s basement for the rest of your life.

This is very sad yet so true. We work very hard to make the best product possible and yet, we get nickled and dimed to death. For the younger folks just coming out of school, they seem to accept this state because they think it will get their foot into the door. Even if that is the case, they need to understand that we all need a good wage to live.

Stop bitching and moaning. This whole “editing” thing is just a hobby, right?

I was in a similar situation. Once you got paid you end up giving back the drives without the project file? Is this typical, usually I include the project file with paid work.

I see, do you stipulate that in a contract or just tell them verbally?
