Sorry to disagree with your last comment, but I do. I am a professional, and FCP is THE choice for me at this time. I will work on an Avid when I am seated in front of one, or if an Avid will do something that FCP cannot and I need that something for the job. But thus far my first choice is FCP. And I know many MANY other PROFESSIONALS that feel the same way.

That was a poor blanket statement to make.

I've never understood the big argument between the two sides. For me, I've been editing for over 7 years, and use both FCP and AMC. I find certain plus' and minus of both. In the end the client doesn't care about what system you edit on, they just want to see the final product well done. I've been preaching for the longest time that really no matter your preference of system as long as you are able to utilize the tool to reach a professional broadcast quality finish, WHO CARES? The finish line doesn't account for 'what kind of car crossed' just that one did. If the argument is strickly technical, then the discussion should be based on simple reality of hardware / software. Without going into detail, Avid has long been the preferred system by worldwide professional editors and studios due to it's ability to streamline heavy workflow in a reliable, efficient manner. The big strides FCP has made over the years should certainly be recognized as a serious threat to those stuck in AMC but Apple is still has a little ways to go before unseating Avid as THE choice amongst professionals.

The thing for me with FCP/Avid has always been trying to defines terms of reference and getting the most realistic and objective overviews of what each does best and worst - where the strengths really lie.

While I know it's possible, for example, I would stay well clear of muti-suite shared edits in FCP.

I use Avid 97% of the times so I've be fishing for insight from those who switch back and forth a bit more often.
