FCP doesn't do that. It won't segment a file based on an EDL. That is what Da Vinci does... I don't know if COLOR would do this either, but I don't think I heard about that. That is worth posing on an Apple Color Forum. I know it won't work in FCP.

Hey Shane,

I don't use FCP, but I wonder if this would work: Export a quicktime from Avid, generate an EDL from the Avid sequence, then import the quicktime and EDL into FCP and use the EDL to mark the cuts in the quicktime.

Shane, does Automatic Duck also move the actual media if you need it to? Say, you had an Avid project on one machine and you needed to move the entire project for color grading onto another machine, including the actual media files so you can work in another location? There is no rendering involved in this process, correct, so the files are exactly as they were in Avid? Sorry if these questions seem a little entry level, I wish there was more documentation on the Automatic Duck site.

OH, I know MXF4Mac very well. I know it can do that. But it doesn't bring over the Avid sequence with effects like the Duck. THAT combination is what I am talking about. If I just needed to see the Avid media, then yeah, MXF4Mac is the way to go.

You might also want to have a close look at MXF4Mac's MXF Import solution Shane ... now at version 2.0 its pretty darn slick and enables you to share the Avid media directly ... no reference movies, just direct access to the same MXF footage.
