ptyx: I use belle nuit to export .stl files to DSP all the time. And as long as the titles in FCP are created with the regular text tool and not as outline text or anything else, Belle Nuit is able to import the XML. That said, the program does have it quirks but I've used it on a regular basis for the last 5 years to create subtitles for FCP and DVDs without much problem. It can also export as text files with or without timecode which can easily be imported into an Excel doc.

Here's another possible subtitle tool: SubBits for $217.80. They have a Mac & PC version plus lots of other tools ... some free. Worth a look.

I use a great program called Annotation Edit for this. It exports in like every possible format, and has a great integration with FCP XML files. It can also export into Quicktime subtitle files as well as Google video, but I havent tried them.

And it comes with a helper app called Annotation Transcriber which makes entering subtitles for a translator or whoever very easy. I had a translator translate about 8 hours of Chinese language footage with it which I was able to easily import into FCP and edit a whole film based purely on subtitles.

I looked at Title Exchange Pro and Subtitler when I was first starting on this project and I found Annotation Edit to be the easiest and most flexible, but it is a bit more expensive at 245 €.

Ptyx – Yeah, we did a lot of web searching and didn't find what we were after…Belle Nuit didn't come up, and apparently wouldn't have worked in our case.

Michael Cinquin has online tools to convert FCP XML 4 subtitles timelines to excel doc for free : http://www.michaelcinquin.com/tools/subtitles

It might be slow if the timeline is long though.

Belle Nuit does not export subtitles in .stl or .xls like Title Exchange Pro does. Also Belle Nuit doesn't import FCP XML that well. That said it's a great spotting tool.

I've just recently completed a huge dvd authoring job, 5 different languages and have been waiting for a opportunity like this to finally buy TEP. It's a life saver and Andreas is great with support.

Belle Nuit Subtitler is also a good program and costs 150 USD. Does about the same things Title Exchange Pro does.
