This episode really stuck a chord with me. I'm about to do a rough cut as a favor, and I don't need the experience. After listening to this podcast I'm going to make a deal memo with editors credit and half up front, thanks Shane.

I wonder if you could get away with setting up something where freelancers wouldn't work with a "Producer" unless they were registered on a site and rated by people they worked with. You know like Zagat Guide for producers. Though it would make sense to open it up for other categories as well. Like a Mandy directory or IMDB listing. Then you could list your "ProDScore" in your resume. Say 5 for great to work with. 0 run for the hills. Various scores in between. Make a bunch of categories to be rated on. Payment, Attitude, Knowledge, Reliability, etc...

Charge a nominal fee to belong to pay for the hosting/upkeep. Oh and host it in like China somewhere where anything goes. Just ask Hollywood.

Yeah....that is tough. Especially in this town. If you are listed as a reference you can't even say bad things or it will be called LIBEL. I had one post super who wouldn't say anything about anyone, good or bad. He would say "I don't do this." Because if they were good and he said "he is great!", but then if they were bad and he said "I can't say," then you know the guy is bad.

But he was unique. I know plenty of people who say good and bad things.

That is a good idea though.

Wow. What a Dick. There really should be a Dick registry that other freelancers could access. You know like on Amazon. When you are working for a producer or director for the first time you could log on and see, hey this guy doesn't pay, this guy a nightmare to work with but pays on time.

Now how to figure out the legality and not get sued, cause you know if you told the truth about some dick producer who never pays and is a nightmare to work with, you know he's going to be some high profile lawyer type who would sue you into the stoneage for warning others not to work with him.
